About the Newcomers Club of the Upper Main Line
The more than one hundred members constitute a very diverse group of women with respect to age, interests, talents, travels, backgrounds, etc. While many join as new arrivals to this area, for others the Upper Main Line has long been home. Some members join as newcomers to a stage or circumstance in their lives, and others are introduced by a neighbor who wants to share the warm welcome and fun activities she enjoys. We continue to add new friends every month to those who have been loyal members for 10-20-30 years.
The wide variety of activities is designed to offer something for everyone. Members are encouraged to
participate in the familiar and try the new. The emphasis is on friends and fun. Suggestions for the formation of new activity groups are always welcome.
Most of the activities are scheduled from September through May, though some continue through summer months. Annual dues, $40, is payable by October 1 for renewing members or at the time new members decide to join. Members who join after March 1 pay only $20 for the duration of that club year.
Established in the early 1960’s, the club was originally known as The Welcome Wagon Club of the Upper Main Line. During 1982 the club changed its name to “The Newcomers Club of the Upper Main Line” (NCUML), and is listed on the Newcomers Clubs worldwide directory. The stated purpose of that charter group continues to serve as NCUML’s Mission Statement to this day.
Our Club’s Mission Statement:
The primary purpose of the all-women Newcomers Club of the Upper Main Line (“NCUML”) is "to welcome new residents by providing programs and activities for pleasure, recreation, and other non-profitable purposes designed to help them become acquainted with their community and to find new friends and interests."
